Golden Potato Apple Bread

Time to play around with modifying celtic potato bread recipes for sweet potatoes. British, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh cooking really shines in fall where the simple ingredients and fresh food make the dishes at local festivals popular. Tryon Palace is famous for it’s fall pirate festivals and events thanks to Blackbeard, America’s most notorious master rebel on our high seas, lots of fun. North Carolina’s coastline is perfect for filming too. The seafood is great too. Keep expecting someone to reboot the Pirates of the Caribbean with a fantasy twist from the Jim Butcher air pirates series. If you’ve ever seen Stardust with Robert De Niro and the lightening pirates or Japanese anime which has plenty of airship themes, you get the idea only Butcher is a much better writer. The East Coast already has beautiful coastlines and a couple of pretty good film studios out of Wilmington and Atlanta. With Marvel winding down, you have to wonder if we’ll see crew there being recycled for lower CGI heavy budgets with real location effects. New Bern traditionally has a boat flotilla the first weekend in December so if you’re a buddying writer or film director, might be something to check out. Wilmington is a port city nearby so you can have any boat lifted for 3D renderings. Have fun on that rabbit hole.

Back to sweet potatoes. They’re one of the best things you can eat in the Southeast because they go with basically everything. Sweet potato fries. Pie. Casserole. Even Dolly Parton has her signature recipe. But really haven’t seen them hit mainstream in the breads which is a shame because the Amish are known for throwing a potato in their breads to give that soft melt in your mouth texture. Yum. It’s a nice break from all the yardwork and cleaning up this week to prep for the fall season. Black Friday is just around the corner. Wishing you the best.
