Back from Thanksgiving break and walking around checking newspaper stands. It’s important to do physical research even if it takes a little longer to process because if you talk to rich experts they’ll tell you that the Walter is Raleigh’s most popular magazine, but walk around the city and you find the Raleigh Downtowner wins. Also, people love the Indy. It’s also a reality look into AI 2025 , as it has some serious pitfalls/grifting that are not being addressed which leads to a pre-Techbubble popping feel of the late 90s along with the magic. Obviously, we’re not God so this is more of a guess based on current strengths and weaknesses of the technology not we can see the future. Outside a small bubble in Silicon Valley and technocrats, AI isn’t popular. You can walk through downtown Raleigh every day for a year, ride the bus in any direction, sit in coffee shops and bars, and never hear the word “AI” in any conversation. Which is pretty interesting since online seems so into it.
Tech giants like Elon Musk call AI releasing demons which brings back visions of AI, the City of Giants, in the Old Testament or Torah in which the Cannannites were so into incest orgies, child sacrifice, cannibalism, and drinking blood that it was the first thing God commanded Josuah and his men to destroy in taking Israel. AI is also commonly known as the demon of the Oracle of Delphi in the 3rd century which is said to have led to the collapse of the Roman Empire. The thing which experts like Robert Malone and others point the WEF is currently trying to roll out as an EU software tracking program called funny enough…Delphi. Sigh.
It’s kind of frustrating to watch the things that AI does well like tell funny stories, video games, or hilarious photo collages being overlooked for this global world domination game. Also, memes. Does anyone else keep expecting for indy newspapers to add an AI comedy travel writer? A robotic Where’s Waldo? You could have some really funny columns in newspapers dedicated to tourism around the world with robots. Been thinking about it for a while since AI broke into the fashion industry and places where it really shines like Italian clean line fashions and linen (think Assassin’s Creed) which is what most cosplay video came outfits are based on keep getting ignored. It is completely baffling given the US has Art Basel why the technology industry that claims to be into AI isn’t doing some resort menswear cross-over collections with say Miami and Italy resort towns. Tommy Bahama or Ralph Lauren meets Armani. It would be really beautiful to look at and it’s kind of a shame it hasn’t happened yet. Sometimes you think that AI is alternatively stuck in 80s Cold War times before the 90s boom. There has to be some golfing resorts in Florida that would be happy to host this tourist gimmick or invest in future sales. For now, the jury is still out on AI. Only time will tell if it remains a largely money laundering technology scam or becomes something more real in the arts. Still think that local indy newspapers will determine it’s successful adoption with the larger public. What do you think?
